Turkmen Experts Participate in the International UNESCO Workshop in Almaty

The UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty, in cooperation with the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (CRIHAP), is organizing a training workshop on the role of museums in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage in the Central Asian region from September 8 to 10, 2026, in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan. Experts from the Historical and Local Lore Museum of Arkadag City and the Historical and Local Lore Museum of Mary Velayat are participating in this workshop from Turkmenistan. On the first day of the workshop, a regional practical training session was held under the theme "Safeguarding Intangible Heritage in Central Asia through Museums." The main objective of the practical workshop (seminar-training) is to explore modern methods of safeguarding, developing, and transmitting intangible cultural heritage to future generations by leveraging the potential of museums in Central Asian countries. The participants shared their mutual experiences. Discussions highlighted the significant role of museums in protecting cultural values facing the risk of disappearance and ensuring their preservation for future generations.
